Best Way To Work From Home
The comfort of our homes and the idea of working from home in our PJs was only a dream to a lot of us before March. And while the outbreak of Coronavirus is horrible and has left the world reeling, there is no denying it has confined us to our homes, for better or for worse.
If you also have been granted ‘Work From Home’ till further notice and are a novice at all this, you have come to the right place. Because today, we are talking about how to Work from Home, if you have never done it before. And while it may seem like a long stretch, there are plenty of easy ways you can make the most of this whole Social Distancing thing and still deliver your best work.
1. Set Up A Designated Time For Working
The number one rule of ‘working from home’ or freelancing is to have a designated time assigned for your daily tasks. Ensure you are checking in with your office peeps at the same time you would typically do. Stick to your work for those many hours, complete the day’s task, and sign out. Working from home doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice your personal time too. Set boundaries to ensure you don’t go haywire in this period.
2. Get Dressed For Virtual Meetings
Almost every company is taking up day-to-day catch up with their teams on a video call. Make sure you are dressed up for those meetings as it gives a sense of working from your office. Plus, it also helps to keep your mind productive during those hours.
3. Create A Clean And Organized Workspace
However hard we try, we cannot work from the couch or bed, and this is why you need to have a clean and organized workspace in your home. If you can dedicate a full room to this, great otherwise a small corner with your work essentials will do the trick. From your journals to sticky notes and all the electronics, everything should be in this workspace.
4. Limit The Use Of Your Devices
We can spend days scrolling endlessly on our phones, and the chances of doing this when we are home grow manifold. This is why it is essential to stay off your phones as much as possible and ensure you only check your different accounts when you are taking a break from work.
5. Take Short Breaks
And the breaks you take while at home is also essential. Take the same breaks you would take when in office. From your lunchtime to your tea breaks in the evening, this will ensure your mind is in work mode.
6. Make Sure You Get Enough Sunlight
While work is necessary, we now have the luxury of moving a little more than usual. This means that we can now sit on the porch of our home to sip on tea and watch sunsets. Of course, this would not have been possible when you were in office, and this is why adding this little activity to your routine is a blessing. If you are not a stare-at-a-sunset type of person, go for walks on your balcony, if nothing else.
With all this in mind, you can add your own tweaks while working from home. The result is to deliver the work and be productive, which we are sure you will be able to do. Stay safe and healthy!
