We’re are almost at the end of yet another year, which can only mean one thing — it’s party season again. As the Diwali festivities draw closer, and holiday season looms, you can be sure that the next few months have some super fun events in store. Along with that much-needed time off from work, happy hours at almost every bar, and house parties that go on till the break of dawn, it’s also music festival season.

This year, some of the finest homegrown and international artists are lining up to create unforgettable nights and weekends all over the country. The energetic music and vibrant atmosphere at these festivals are guaranteed to get you on your feet. If you haven’t attended a music festival before and are unsure about which one deserves your squad’s attention, here’s a list of festivals that you should bookmark right away.  

Magnetic Fields

When – 13-15 December 2019

Where – Alsisar, Rajasthan

Hosted in the Jhunjhunu grounds in Rajasthan’s Jhajjar district every December, this music festival is not for the faint-hearted. However, if you don’t mind the cold, or can afford one of the palace rooms, this festival will be unlike anything else you’ve ever seen in the country. Electronic music, acoustic bands, Indian folk singers, and local acts converge in a three-day music bonanza attended by music lovers from across the world. Spread over several stages, the artists perform all through the night and day, and several quality food stalls keep you going. The festival is usually held mid-December.

NH7 Weekender

When – 29th November-1st December

Where – Mahalakshmi Lawns, Nagar Road, Pune 

The “happiest music festival” is back with weekend music festivals planned across India. Known for booking some of the most high profile and famous artists, NH7 has transformed into a nation-wide celebration of music and culture over the last ten years. This year, as usual, the line up boasts of the greatest artists from across genres — from Swedish band Opeth to our own Gully Boy Divine, expect to interact with music fans from across the spectrum. The Pune edition of the event will be held on the last weekend in November.

OnePlus Music Festival

When – November 16, 2019

Where – D Y Patil Sports Stadium, Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra

Featuring international artists like Katy Perry and Dua Lipa along with homegrown artists from India like Ritviz, Amit Trivedi, and The Local Train, this one has all the right ingredients for a memorable affair.

U2: The Joshua Tree Tour 

When – December 15 

Where – D Y Patil Sports Stadium, Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra

U2 will perform its maiden concert in Mumbai, India, on December 15, which will also be the final performance in its Joshua Tree tour. The tour starts on November 8, 2019, in Auckland, before heading to New Zealand, Australia, Singapore, Tokyo, Seoul, and Manila.

 The tour is a celebration of the 30th anniversary of U2’s legendary album, The Joshua Tree, that was launched in 1987 and, which went on to win two Grammys and a multitude of fans for the band. With popular hits like ‘With or Without You’, ‘I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For’ and ‘Where the Streets Have No Name’, this concert is much awaited by the band’s fans from around the world. If you need any more inspiration to attend the show, we’ll leave you with the words of a wise man who once said, “One life. When – 27-29 December 2019

Where – Vagator Beach, Goa

This festival needs no introduction. The Sunburn festival is one of the most well-known electronic dance music festivals in the country and the biggest music festival in Asia. What started as a three-day festival held over the New Year in Vagator, Goa, the festival has since spread to Pune and Mumbai in the following years, and now books the biggest international gigs in the world. Several small performances are held in the build-up to the three-day spectacle, across the two states.
