Understand SEO – SEO stands for search engine optimization. This means that SEO optimizes your website to be found in search engine results. For example, if your site promotes your digital banking services located in Mumbai, you’ll want to show up in results when people search Google {or another search engine} for queries like “open digital bank account” or “online banking services.”

The digital competition on the internet is very high, which means that you have to make sure your website shows up as early in the search results as possible. Try to think back to the last time you ever clicked on page seven of Google search results. Oh, wait, that never happened! A whopping 92 per cent of searchers choose to work with businesses they found on the first page of local search results, which means you need to use SEO to make sure you end up on the top of the rankings.

Google Search Console – Track your site’s performance in Google search with the help of this tool.

Keyword In Your URL – For a better organic reach and CTR, include your keyword in your URL.

Short URLs over longer ones – Google recently analyzed 1 million Google search results and found that shorter URLs rank higher in Google.

Keyword In Your Title Tag – For a better search result, you want to put your main keyword in the front of your title tag. This increases the chances of Google finding your content on search results much quicker.

Title Tag Modifiers – Title Tag Modifiers are words and phrases to add to your title tag, which will help your page rank for lots of long-tail keywords.

Keyword placement in the first 150 words – Google crawls up and puts more weight in spotting a keyword in the first 100-150 words of your page, so place your keyword at least once here.

H1, H2 or H3 tags – Using your keyword in a subheader in a heading tag rather than standard/paragraph helps your page rank higher in google search.

Optimize the images on your page – Google cannot read/see images and hence optimizing images with alt tags and filenames helps rank in image search, which is a great way to drive organic traffic.

Use related phrases and LSI Keywords – Keyword stuffing is not a right call these days, instead, use similar phrases and LSI (Latent Semantic Indexing) keywords. LSI keywords are conceptually related terms that search engines use to understand the content on a webpage deeply. You can find LSI keywords on LSIGraph.com.

4. Links Are Important

Use External Links – External links to established websites shows Google that your content is well-referenced and trustworthy.

Use Internal Links – Interlinking your new piece of content to 2-5 other pages on your site helps in link building and making content relevant for your readers. You can help boost your SEO results by using links—both to your internal site pages and blog posts and to external web pages. Try to include a few links within every page and blog post on your site.

If you have a blog, make sure to get a link into your post introductions, preferably within the first sentence or two.

5. Track Your Results

To make sure your SEO efforts are on the right track, you need to learn how to measure your success. Like we said, setting up a Google Analytics account will allow you to see how much traffic you’re receiving from Google Search (and other traffic sources), how many users click on your links after seeing them in search, and what keywords are helping users find you.

By tracking the results of your SEO efforts, you will know how to improve and enhance your website. Good luck!
