We told you all about COVID – 19 and why it will help curb the spread of the ongoing pandemic – Coronavirus. And if, like millions of others, you believe in the greater good of humanity and have already confined yourself to your home, let us talk about things to do in lockdown from home.

There are plenty of things to do in lockdown. And no, this is not limited to introverts. Even if you can’t spend your time indoors, there are plenty of productive things to do at home and keep you busy at this time. The world needs you to stay indoors and do your bit.

Some researchers say that we might need to practice social distancing for the next two, three years if we want to save millions of people at risk. On that note, read on to know about things to do in lockdown.

1. Read, Read, Read!

Have you been giving yourself excuses that you don’t have time to read? Well, now, you have all the time. Take out all your books from your #ToBeRead pile and get reading. Even if you don’t have a lot of books, you can always order them online or buy the e-book versions on Kindle.

From Netflix, Prime Video to other streaming services, there are plenty of options and gazillion things to watch. Pick your genre and get started.

4. Treat Yourself To Some TLC

This could mean different things to everyone, but here we are talking about self-care. We often miss out on the vital part of living – really being there for ourselves. Now is the time! Whether you like to relax with a hot cup of tea with soothing music on the balcony or with a new face mask you have meant to try, do it all now. For me, self-love is all about pampering my skin with my favourite sheet mask and trying different types of tea. Take your pick and do it in this time of social distancing.

5. Breathe In Some Fresh Air

Social distancing doesn’t have to be about locking yourself up. You can still move and go to the nearest park for a walk or jog in the evening. Of course, do maintain a distance of 6 feet with other people. Breathe in some fresh air. Your body will thank you for it.

6. Indulge In Your Lost Hobbies

Whether it was Arts and Crafts, Origami, or Calligraphy, whatever it is that you used to do before life happened, you can do it all now. These are some interesting things to do at home. If you love dancing, do so in your living room or sing to your heart’s content. Everyone has a hobby, and you decide what you like the most and get started.

7. Spring Clean Your House

Spring is here, and so is the time to clean out things that you don’t use. You don’t have to Marie Kondo your place but start re-organizing things and do away with whatever it is you don’t require. With all this extra time on your hand, you might as well make the most of it. And if possible, add some fresh flowers to your interiors; it brightens up everything.

8. Write, Journal Or Start Blogging

Another form of therapy is journaling, at least for some people. For writers this is the best things to do during quarantine. And if you have never tried doing this, now is the time. Write, scribble, doodle, or jot down everything running in your mind; I promise, it will help you. And if you don’t feel like doing this on paper, you can always count on blogging.

Create a blog for yourself (or for everyone) and start sharing your thoughts. You never know when your ideas might spark a conversation with strangers and help you build connections. Whatever your thing is, start doing it today.

9. Knock Off Your To-Do List

Of course, this list includes everything that doesn’t require you to travel for no reason. We all have a habit of making to-do lists but never completing them. With all the extra time you have right now, you can finally sit down and tick off things you meant to do since last year. Apart from your college lectures, you can also attend classes for new things to learn in lockdown, that you want to add to your profile. Like a Digital Marketing course, you have been putting off, or Machine Learning and coding, there are tonnes of things you can learn to add to your knowledge. It might help you get closer to your dream job or anything else that you have meant to achieve.

We know these are testing times, but here is a fact that might help you not go stir-crazy. Both Isaac Newton and William Shakespeare did some of their best work while in lockdown during the plague. The latter wrote the famous play ‘King Lear’; Isaac Newton came up with Calculus. This may be the time your genius work comes out. Keep trying and working from home while practising social distancing.
