These lovely hiking trails around your very own Hyderabad are just day-long activities and can be enjoyed over the weekend. Best part? You can go alone, which means that you have no fear of your friends canceling on you.

1. Devarakonda

Devarakonda - Live More Zone

Devarakonda takes the number one spot when listing hiking trails around Hyderabad. It is the locals’ favorite too. The beautiful little village is located in the Nalgonda district. It is home to some fantastic forts in Telangana that give a glimpse of the region’s rich heritage apart from natural beauty.

Akka Mahadevi caves, Nallamala hills, Rachakonda, Ethipothala falls, Sanghi temple, and Rajiv Gandhi wildlife sanctuary are some places you must visit once you get here. Hiking to the fort has to be the highlight of your trip, though.

How to reach – A little over 100 km from Hyderabad, Devarakonda is a three-hour drive from the city. But you can choose to travel by local buses as well.

2. Ananthagiri Hills

Ananthagiri Hills - Live More Zone

One of the most beautiful places to visit near Hyderabad, Ananthagiri, offers more than just a hike. You can also enjoy rock climbing and rappelling on the hills, bathing in the Katiki waterfalls, walk along the Musi riverbanks or Bhavanasi lake, or stroll in the Padmapuram gardens. Lord Anantha Padmanabha temple is also close by in case you wish to visit.

How to reach – Ananthagiri is just about 81 km from Hyderabad. You can quickly drive from the city as it takes only a little over two hours. Book your car here.

3. Gunrock Hill

Gunrock Hill - Live More Zone

Built during the British rule, Gunrock is located just 40 km from Hyderabad and a perfect weekend trekking destination. There’s a lot of giant boulders, atop which sits the water tank {now delapidated} that was built by the British around 1798. Climbing up the boulders has been the locals’ favorite activity for decades.

On hiking to Gunrock Hill, you can visit the Gunrock park, the age-old Secunderabad cantonment, and Shilparamam, and it is highly advisable to avoid this area during the rains.

How to reach – Gunrock Hill is closer to Secunderabad than Hyderabad and can be reached within an hour by road.

4. Chityal Hills

Chityal Hills - Live More Zone

This is the best place for trekking and even overnight camping in the valley. The scenic Chityal Hills is a lovely place to enjoy nature trails and other outdoor activities, especially if you are planning to spend a night camping here. Monsoon is the best time to visit as the entire place is covered in lush green then.

How to reach – You can easily reach here by car or bus, as it is only 90 km from Hyderabad.

5. Keesaragutta

Keesaragutta - Live More Zone

Located at just about 40 km from the city, Keesaragutta is one of the best places to visit for trekkers and tourists. The area is surrounded by a lot of essential heritage spots like Chowmahalla Palace, Falaknuma Palace, Keesaragutta temple, Nehru Zoological Park, etc.

How to reach: Keesaragutta is only one hour from the city by public or private transport.
