Want To Teach Yourself To Cook? These 5 Recipes Require Just Three Ingredients


It’s 5 pm, you just got off work and had your mindset on cooking dinner at home—only to open the fridge and see only a few ingredients staring back at you. Oops.

Before you accept defeat and turn to online delivery or a trip to the grocery store, look again. Much like staring blankly into your overflowing closet and thinking to yourself, “I nothing to wear,” it’s all about a change of perspective.

To help you learn to use what you have in your fridge {we are also still working on the closet scenario TBH}, we’ve compiled a list of five simple, quick yet delicious recipes that require three ingredients or less. The best part? Chances are you have most of the items sitting around your kitchen just waiting to be transformed.

Choco-Peanut Butter Fudge

Ingredients {makes 25 pieces}

  • Milk chocolate – 400gms
  • Sweetened condensed milk – 530 ml
  • Peanut butter – ½ cup

Cooking Method

  1. Combine chocolate with the condensed milk and melt in the microwave
  2. Once the chocolate-condensed milk has fully melted, pour into a parchment paper-lined 20cmx20 cm baking tin
  3. Place in refrigerator to chill for 10 minutes
  4. Spread peanut butter evenly over it and chill again for 2 hours or until the fudge is firm
  5. Cut into even, bite-sized chunks

Ingredients {for four servings}

  • Banana – 1
  • Eggs – 2
  • Maple syrup or honey
  • Cinnamon – 2-3 pinches {optional}

Cooking Method

  1. Mash the banana until smooth
  2. Add eggs and cinnamon, and mix the batter well
  3. Heat a nonstop pan or skillet over medium heat
  4. Add spoonfuls of batter and cook for 4-5 minutes
  5. Flip and cook for 4-5 minutes more
  6. Serve with maple syrup or honey

Mozzarella Egg Rolls

Ingredients {for ten pieces}

  • Egg roll wrappers {or ready pastry sheets} – 5
  • Mozzarella sticks – 10
  • Water
  • Oil – for frying
  • Any sauce of your choice {if you like}

Cooking Method

  1. Cut the pastry sheets in halves and place one mozzarella stick in each
  2. Fold the sides of the sheets over the sticks as if wrapping the sticks neatly
  3. Press the edges to ensure it is sealed tightly
  4. Heat oil in a pan
  5. Fry the wrapped sticks until golden brown
  6. Serve with ketchup, marinara sauce, mayonnaise, or a sauce of your choice

Teriyaki Paneer

Ingredients (makes four servings)

  • Paneer – 800-900 gms
  • Soya sauce – 1 cup
  • Brown sugar – ½ cup

Cooking Method

  1. Cut the paneer into even-sized chunks
  2. Sear the chunks evenly in a pan, then flip
  3. Add soya sauce and sugar
  4. Stir until the liquid has reduced and glazed the paneer evenly
  5. Serve as an appetizer or with rice as the main course

Honey Roasted Carrot Sticks

Ingredients (serves 3)

  • Whole carrots – 6
  • Butter – 2 tablespoons
  • Honey – 2 tablespoons
  • Salt, pepper to taste

Cooking Method

  1. Cut carrots into sticks
  2. Preheat oven to 200 degree celcius
  3. Place carrots in a medium oven-friendly dish evenly coated in butter, honey, salt, and pepper
  4. Bake for 20-25 minutes
  5. Serve with your favourite dip or simply dig in
