Whether it be fried snacks or a steaming bowl of soup, there is a whole new joy to food and the perfect ambience that the monsoon brings. 1. Onion Pakodas

Ingredients

Two onions, sliced

1 cups gram flour (Besan)

1/2 teaspoon carrom seeds (Ajwain)

Two green chillies, chopped

Two tablespoons coriander, chopped

Salt, as per taste

Water, as required to make a thick batter

Oil, for deep frying

Method

In a big mixing bowl, mix the sliced onions, chillies, coriander and salt. Add the gram flour and carrom seeds and mix everything well till each onion slice is coated with the batter. Add a little water to make a thick batter. Heat oil in a deep bottom pan, and when it is hot enough, add a spoonful of batter and fry the pakoras. The pakodas should rise, and that’s how you know you have the perfect oil temperature. Fry till the pakoras are golden and crispy. Serve the incredible rainy season food delicacy with chutney and enjoy!

2. Cheesy Maggi

Cheesy Maggi  – Live More Zone

Monsoon food is all about comfort food. There is nothing more comforting than a steaming bowl of Maggi to enjoy the rains.

Ingredients

One packet of Maggi noodles

Two chillies, finely chopped

Four cloves garlic, finely chopped

1/2 onion, finely chopped

1/2 tomato, finely chopped

1/2 capsicum, finely chopped

Three tablespoons pea

Two slice cheese

11/2 cup water

Coriander, for garnish

Two tablespoon oil

Method

Heat oil in a large pan and add the garlic and chillies. Add onions and sauté till they are translucent. Next, add the rest of the veggies and mix well. Let this cook for a couple of minutes. Then add the water, cheese slices and the Maggi tastemaker. Combine the mixture well till the cheese melts. Add in the Maggi noodles and cover and cook for a minute. Mix and continue to cook till the noodles have thoroughly cooked. Garnish with coriander and serve this hot and enjoy one of the easiest and satisfying monsoon recipes of all time.

3. Vada Pav

A monsoon recipes list is not complete without including one of the most iconic Mumbai street foods- the Vada Pav.

Ingredients

Two large potatoes

Eight garlic, finely chopped

Two green chillies, finely chopped

2 pinch asafoetida (Hing)

1/4th teaspoon Turmeric powder

1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds

Curry leaves

Coriander leaves

1 cup gram flour (Besan)

1/2 cup water

Green chutney

Sweet Tamarind Chutney

Dry red chutney

Pav, as required

Oil as required

Method

Boil potatoes and mash them in a bowl. Make a paste of garlic and green chillies. Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, and add curry leaves and hing and garlic and chilli paste. Add turmeric powder and stir till the raw aroma of the garlic goes away. Pour the tempering in the mashed potatoes and season with salt. Proceed with making small balls out of the potato mixture. In another bowl combine, besan, turmeric, hing, salt and water and make a smooth batter. In a frying pan, heat oil and dip the potato balls in the batter mixture and fry. Cook till they are golden and crispy. Enjoy this classic rainy season food with pav and chutneys.

4. Roasted corn on the cob

 Roasted corn on the cob – Live More Zone

One of the most famous rainy season food is “Bhutta”. The rains and the roasted corn are a match made in heaven. It is too easy you can even make it at home!

Ingredients

2-3 sweet corn cob

One tablespoon red chilli powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

One tablespoon melted butter

One lemon halved

Method

Mix the chilli powder and salt in a bowl. Roast the whole corn on an open flame in the stove, turning it from time to time to get an even char. Once the corn is roasted, brush it with melted butter. Take a lemon half, dip in the chilli-salt mixture and rub it all over the corn. Serve this delectable monsoon dish hot and an extra dash of lemon.
