Train Tours In India You Cannot Afford To Miss

     0

If you’ve traveled your fair share around the country, you’d know that the best way to get around is by far the train. Because of the long distances, the Indian railway network makes sure that your {long} rides are as comfortable as they can be, and if you’re in a scenic part of the country, the view is an added bonus to it all.

So if you’re planning to travel in the next few months, these scenic train routes around the country are only going to get more beautiful due to the monsoons. Put them on your bucket list and check them off one by one!

1. Mumbai to Goa

Before we get to the lesser-known ones, it’s time to celebrate the old and trusted Mumbai to Goa train route. Passing through the Western Ghats on one side and the open expanse of the Arabian Sea on the other, this route is filled with a ridiculous amount of greenery and plenty of bridges to pass over.

2. Mandapam to Rameswaram

Rameswaram is a town in Tamil Nadu that lies on the Pamban island, and to get there, you have to cross a rather long bridge – the second longest bridge in the country, as a matter of fact. The train from Mandapam to Rameswaram passes over it, and this is easily one of the most scenic journeys you can take in India.

3. Jammu to Udhampur

You’d think that the northern parts won’t have any railway connectivity due to its mountainous terrain, however, you’d be underestimating the Indian railways by quite a bit. Sure, this route doesn’t pass through the massive snow-capped peaks of the Upper Himalayas in Kashmir, but it still offers plenty of scenic views of the hills to enjoy while traversing the mountains.

4. Ratnagiri to Mangalore

There are many trains connecting these two towns, depending on how long you want the journey to last. Passing through the mighty Western Ghats, for the most part, it’s full of waterfalls, mountains, and valleys you’d not see anywhere else in the country.

5. Vasco Da Gama to Londa

The journey from Vasco da Gama in Goa to Londa in Karnataka also passes through the Western Ghats – like a few others on this list – through the mountains you’d be seeing here only get higher and more majestic with time, as it’s an uphill journey. There are quite a few massive waterfalls on the way to take in, as well as the pristine Goan countryside you keep hearing about but never actually check out.

Have you ticked all the above from your list? If not, plan ahead and make those travel journeys come to life. Also while you are at, don’t forget to use your digibank debit card while booking your railway tickets, through the Indian railways to avail of special discounts.
